FASHION & LIFESTYLE | Curing House Middlesbrough Blogger Event & What I Wore |

Fashion Blogger Ellie Rees
Before this event, I’d only ever visited The Curing House for a birthday brunch, but ever since I’ve been wanting to visit, to try their evening menu as the brunch certainly didn’t disappoint. Therefore you can imagine my excitement when I was invited to an exclusive intimate meal, for North East bloggers to sample what The Curing House has to offer.

I went for a casual attire for the meal as I knew I'd be getting into a food coma by the end of the night. I decided to wear a pair of high waisted jeans to hide my food baby and a waterfall jacket that are both from Primark. I dressed the outfit up with some lace up wedges giving a casual chic look for the event, which are also from Primark, so a relatively cheap outfit!

The Curing House is situated in a very up and coming part of Middlesbrough as is based on Bedford Street which is full of independent business that offering great dining experiences away from the standard chains. The Curing House Blogging Event Middlesbrough

The restaurant itself has a 60’s classic interior vibe, which oozes sophistication, yet manages to have a really relaxed atmosphere. If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll understand my excitement when I found the restaurant was accessorised with lots of copper detailing, which was the perfect touch in my eyes. Copper Restaurant Interior at The Curing House
The meal was an intimate affair with just 5 bloggers being invited, this gave us all a chance to genuinely get to know each other on a more personal level. Most blogging events I attend tend to be quite pressured and rushed therefore you don’t get a chance to get to know people as well as you’d quite like, face to face.

The first thing we tried off the menu was a generous charcuterie board complimented with their own baked sourdough bread  (which they bake from fresh on their premises) and olives. We also sampled their cured meats which are full of history from all over the world.

We were then allowed to choose whatever we wanted for the main course. So I went for the roast duck breast, crispy leg fritter compliment with  potato, radish, greens and smoked rhubarb, which was truly mouth watering.

Most people I find are either cheese board lovers or desert lovers, I for one are both, so as you can imagine I was in my element. Peter who is one of the Curing House’s owners talked us through the history and where the cheese was from, you could tell he was very passionate which was great to see.

After the cheese board, pudding arrive, which was Sticky Figgy Pudding with Toffee Caramel with Candy Pecan and Vanilla Seed Ice Cream. As you can guess after all that food I was in a food coma! I must add, all the other girl's food and desserts also looked delicious!Sticky Figgy Pudding with Toffee Caramel with Candy Pecan and Vanilla Seed Ice Cream.

Overall it was a fantastic night with fab company, full of great conversation, I’ve finally got to know the N/E blogging girls on a more personal level and not just through a screen!
Disclosure: Thank you to Declan and The Curing House team and the owners Peter & Sarah for putting on a fantastic first blogging event, hopefully, there’s more to come from Baker & Bedford Street!
